After failing my N test 4 times I thought it would be a good idea to take lessons... (should have thought about that before lol). Two lessons with Mike and I passed my test! He is one of the nicest instructors I have ever met, very patient and a pleasure to talk with.

Thanks a million Mike! I passed first. Only did 2 lessons because I needed to do my test ASAP and had held an Irish license for 13yrs previously but you were spot-on with all your advice.
If anyone is taking the test in future I'd highly recommend Achieve Driving School, but take a lot more than 2 lessons because it's not an easy test. You will be glad you did.

Mike is very patient and very encouraging. I did not have much driving experience before I came to Canada and was very nervous about the road test. I was glad that Mike was always there to encourage me and to help me improve my driving skills. Within a lesson and with after-lesson practice, I would park properly, which was amazing. I called Mike at last minute to get a tune up on my driving skills.
And I got my Licenses !
I couldn't have done it without him, he was easy to talk to, understanding and if I made a mistake he would go over and show me again without any criticism.
I live in Vancouver and needed to take my driving test quickly because of the demands of my job. I didn't know the area, but Mike showed me some places where the examiner may take me, which she surely did lol.

You will never fail the road test if you sign up for a driving lesson with Mike Costas. He will mold you to become a professional driver step by step as he would introduce you from basic possible roadtest routes to complicated ones, while constantly teaching you the dos and don'ts in driving. His patience and passion to teach students is very outstanding and remarkable.

Im proud to say that I just passed my road test class 5 today with just 2 mistakes. All thanks to Almighty God above and to Mike, for helping me conquer my fear in driving, and pass the road test!

Mike is really a great teacher, keeps you calm and confident all the time and always give the exact correct advise on time, so practical ;)
I had just couple of hours with him and he showed me all the weak points I might pass through and should take care off.

I had no idea who to choose in teaching me how to prepare for my class 5 until I came upon Mike's website.

Mike really helped me fine tune my driving skills in order to succeed and pass my class 5 on the first try with minimal mistakes on the exam. He is really good in what he does. He really does prepare you well. I mean, I am not from Abbotsford and I only took two lessons 2 days before my class 5 and the day of, and it was enough to pass. I mean talk about last second in preparing for my drivers exam. I was very pleased with the service Mike provided me with, and he also goes above and beyond in giving you those extra tips and hints to help you succeed. I would definitely recommend Mike to anyone who requires lessons for driving. He also does a great job in helping you stay calm with his enthusiastic personality. Thanks again Mike!

I owe it all to Mike, I was very insecure to start driving, then I found Achieve and with 5 lessons and very limited driving in between I passed my road test on the first try. And I now have the confidence I need to drive and be safe while doing so. Thank you so much again Mike I now have so much more freedom to do what I want.

This was my first experience taking lessons from anyone and I have to say I was very impressed with the quality of the ones I received from Mike. He was very patient and friendly and I felt completely at ease with him teaching me. I started out a nervous wreck and 5 lessons later I was confident and passed the N test first try! I hold a driver's license from another country and after trying on my own (without lessons) I failed the road test twice. I finally decided to call Mike and he recommended me a package deal that included his car for lessons and the road test. I just passed my road test today!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND MIKE. He is patient, methodical, very understanding, really cares for his students, and makes you feel very confident behind the wheel. In addition, his prices are very affordable!! Before contacting any other school, call Mike.

Mike is the instructor I definitely recommend to my other friends who needs to pass the road test! I held a driver's license from other country. When I decided I want to go for the BC license I called Mike at once, and I am so glad I found him but no others. He helped me build confidence, provide me not only tips for exam but most important, the concept of safe driving which everyone should have. I passed class 5 by taking only one time. However, Mike's tips will stay life long for me to keep safe driving. Thank you Mike!

With Mike's help, I passed my road test the first try! I highly recommend taking lessons with him. I took 5 lessons, and it felt like driving with my uncle. It was very comfortable, and he gave very helpful hints and tips throughout. He was very encouraging right before the test to build my confidence, which was helpful. Driving skill in BC is different. Being an experienced driver in the Philippines is not a guarantee that you'll pass the road test. I needed to undo some of my driving skills and get new ones. You'll need training and practice in BC to get these new ones. Mike's road lessons and guidance was very helpful. Attitude to learning is also important. Ask God for guidance, so that all the help in your way will be useful.

I had taken large no of lessons earlier on from three different schools and one road test which was disaterous I was so nervous and I thought it is probably an unachievable task but when I came to Mike he reassured me that everything would be fine plus just to add I used to come from surrey to abbotsford to take my lesson from Mike and it was totally worth the effort he is a great instructor who just doesn't tell u ur mistakes but tells u how to improve them .He knows the routes in and out does everything many times and takes effort to remember what U r doing wrong and perfects it . Does a refreshing class just before the exam which would be very similar to the actual test. I have recommended him to all my known and will be doing so in future also. Thanks once again Mike .

Pretty happy that I found Mike as my instructor! I still remembered how nervous and scared I was on the road in the beginning of my driving lessons. I dont understand...
I booked a lesson with this guy, and I must say, I am very dissapointed. After seeing all the positive reviews about Mike, it makes me wonder if they're real and not fake.
Why?
Well first, I told him that I had never really driven before, and that this was essentially the first time I'd ever driven
I told him that i was a little nervous
But that it was not a big deal, that I was fine.
Which is understandable. Driving can be rather Intimidating
So wouldn't you expect an Instructor should do his very best to reasure his.student that he will be patient, and supportive so as to create the most comfortable atmosphere as possible?
Not this time I guess. Not for me.
Maybe he was having a bad day, I don't know.
But I didn't have the same experience the rest of the people who wrote a review did.
i felt, no I KNOW that he was becoming impatient with me, I was having a hard time with the simplest things because of the way he was going about explaining it to me.
Very basic shit like turning and using my signals and stopping, I was struggling because he wasn't letting me get familiar with it all. He took me to a parking lot and it was hard to tell where the lines where. So when I turned the corner, what I judged to be the right line to use as my lane wasn't in line with what he wanted, he became impatient, and even grabbed the wheel away from me to correct me. WHICH WAS REALLY QUITE RUDE. It was very uncomfortable and he was not doing anything to help me with the very obvious difficulties I was having. Whether he believes it or not, the fact is is that he from the start he was short with me. He quickly became Impatient, clearly annoyed and frustrated with me.
So I finally snapped on him.
I'm paying for this?
I had had it.
I told him exactly what was on my mind
I laid into him, reminding him that I had never been at the wheel, how I was little nervous, and that he was being short, Impatient, and rude. I told him I felt he was clearly annoyed and frustrated, and the obvious negative impact it was having on me, but really, any student who was experiencing anxiety.
His reaction was this; He shifted back in his seat and turned his body towards mine which to me, seemed to Indicate he was in disbelief. He denied that he was annoyed or frustrated, he refuted that he was being impatient. He was doing anything but trying to teach me how drive.
The thing is however, only after I snapped on him, and called him on his bullshit behavior and I made it clear that I wasn't going to tolerate it, his attitude towards me changed 100%. He was like a different person. no longer short, or impatient, frustrated or annoyed. His approach to me changed entirely. He offered me encouragement and was supportive.
My anxiety soon subsided as a result, and I made a it of progress.
Now before he dropped me off at home, he asked me what course I wanted. I told him whatever he recommended would best suit me would be fine.
He told me he would put a schedule together for me and that he would text or call me with it shortly, as I told him that I have a job opportunity and all I need to start is a drivers license, so there is definite urgency in getting my license asap...
A day goes by, 2 days, a week, 10 days, no word from him.
So now I'm starting to wonder why he hasn't contacted to give me the schedule. My self-consciousness in being a new driver is wondering if I was such a bad driver, he didn't feel safe with me on the road?
I found myself doubting myself because I haven't heard from this guy.
So I finally reach out to him to ask him why he hasn't called me with his schedule for me...
He responded by telling he was very busy, but maybe at the end of the month, he could fit me in.

So it passes me off to read all these wonderful reviews because for some reason, I got to be the one guy who seemed to get fucked around and shit on by this great driving instructor.
So in my opinion, you might do yourself a favor and hire someone who knows how to conduct themselves appropriately with all his clients and who doesn't act like a douche if he has to put in a little extra attention and care with people when they are struggling.

I had a smiler experience with Mike as well. Mike is impatient and doesn't know how to teach his students how to drive safely. He doesn't have any basic driving skills - not sure how he became a driving instrutor. Mike struggles with anger issues and if you're reading this do yourself a favor and do not take a lesson with Mike

Mike was absolutely amazing with my daughter who suffers from severe anxiety. We was calm, understanding and very patient. He taught her everything she needed to know to pass her test, took her on all the possible test routes, and did a fantastic job helping her settle her anxiety before her test. I will definitely be calling when my younger 2 are ready for lessons, and be recommending mike for anyone looking to pass their N test. Thank you Mike!
